Breaking Away

Hey Kids,

How long does a temporary need postpone a permanent want?

Until the need is gone? Even if the need might be long term and directly interferes with the pursuit of the want?

Is responsibility more important than dreams?break away

Is dreaming irresponsible? Or is it the realization of the dreams the problem?

I find myself estranged from my goals and sinking into the dependence of the extra job I have accepted.

My responsibilities are great. At what point will I find that break away point?

By the Hour

Hey Kids,

It’s like the oldest profession.

Money given for that which is most precious.

The payer expecting everything that the payee can give.

No expression of thanks would be appropriate but the money received for services rendered.

The transaction robs one of being human and grants the other the feeling of superiority.

Why does this happen?wages-act-crop

We’ve all bought into the idea that our time can be compensated by a wage.

The wages will be spent tomorrow and the time is gone forever.

Day 213

Evolution of Revolution

Hey Kids,

Evolution.

It’s a real thing. And without discussing monkey to man, there are examples in nature where species have obviously evolved for survival.

A Sting Ray- A shark that decided that hanging out on the bottom was cooler.

A Sting Ray- A shark that decided that hanging out on the bottom was cooler.

A trip to the local aquarium revels animals in so many different varieties it dizzies the mind. Obviously, there is no one design of aquatic animal but instead many with specific designs. These animals have learned to survive deep depths, limited food sources, great temperature ranges, and whatever other variable you can think of.

We watched a film on the Galapagos Islands. Again, animals were introduced and the ones that survived were the ones that evolved and learn how to feed.

We attended a street fair yesterday. The majority of the vendors seemed to be ordinary people who had turned interest into opportunity. They spent long hours under their sunshades, talking, showing, and selling their wares. My guess is that most have a “day job”. These people, however, spent their Saturday to follow their passions in order to move ahead, gain some extra income, and possibly live a better life. Some are already doing it.

Am I witnessing an evolution?

I know many are unhappy with the plight of the middle class. Some with the treatment of employees by corporations and employers. Some by the difficulty to earn a “living wage” at jobs that they have trained for, dreamed for, and spent a lot of tuition money learning about.

As the industrial revolution era ends and a new revolution begins. I believe those who evolve and figure out where the new feeding grounds have located will be those who succeed. Those who continue to adhere to the rules of yesteryear, might find the future to be a big deep ocean.

Day 146

Worth of Time

Hey Kids,

Having a job. It’s a weird concept really. Most of us exchange our time for money. It’s the only way many of us have learned to survive. Without a job, we lose everything.IMG_6020

I’ve been thinking if the money I get is really worth my most precious commodity, time. I look at my paycheck and get the feeling that it is not. And what really bothers me is that no matter what someone is willing to give me for that time, they are obviously reselling my effort for a higher price.

I hate feeling like I’m getting worked over.

I want to establish my own value.

Maybe I’m nuts on this subject, but if I’m right it’ll be worth it. If I’m wrong, I’ll be exactly where I am today.

Are you getting your worth?
