Internet Takeover

Hey Kids,

Back to the Future or Star Wars?

That has been the internet for two days now.

Monday, the full trailer for the new but 7th Star Wars movie aired during Monday Night Football and the internet soon became clogged with replays of it. People started buying tickets for the December release and crashed the sites selling them within 88 minutes.art,backtothefuture,comic,illustration,movie,starwars-8b146d844d7f7e3477f82e4026f39602_h

Today was the date depicted in the movie Back to the Future 2 as the future. Everyone made their comparisons to what the movie saw as our future today and what it is for reals. They were not exactly right.

I’m a little full of the Star Wars and Back to the Future references, although I’m not against either.

But you know what’s really cool?

With so much Jedi and Marty McFly in the timelines, a whole lot of crap got pushed out.

I’m OK with that.

Day 240

Be Nice

Hey Kids,15 - 1

There are some wonderful people in the world. And the greatest thing about the Internet is that we can all meet a bunch of them. That wasn’t possible even just a few years ago.

There are also really bad people too. People who see the Internet as a way to hide behind their login and say whatever they want to say to hear themselves say it, argue to argue, minimalize to minimalize. Most, things they wouldn’t do face to face.

I’m sorry for these people, they’re missing a great opportunity and I think they hurt themselves. In a world trying to connect, these people will be left out. Being, excuse me, a d*ck, makes you a d*ck.

Don’t be a d*ck.

Be nice.

Compliment, thank, and friend the world. It’s a lot more fun world that way.

Walk away, ignore, or unfollow things that aren’t your cup of tea. Let people be wrong. Let them be ignorant. It’s OK and grammar isn’t that important.

Life’s too short not to recognize that we can be so much more one people now than ever before.

And while I’m thinking about it, thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my blog and allows me to share my thoughts. I really do appreciate it.

And while “your” at it, have a great day!

P.S.- Replace * with an “i” or “u”; however you see fit.

Day 128

Still in Awe

Hey Kids,

I don’t have a clue what the future holds and I love a lot of things from the past. But today, despite

some problems, is a wonderful, fantastic time to live.

The Internet has opened the world of knowledge to us like no other time in history.

Over the past several weeks, I have been doing some heavy data entry and desk work. During that time, and anytime I’m stuck at my desk, I spool up information about just about anything. Last week, the War in the Pacific, this week General Patton and the European Theatre.

It’s a marvelous time right now. I’m not ashamed to admit it.

Day 105

A Good Time To Come Along

Hey Kids,

You know what’s cool? Living in an age where almost any piece of information is available within minutes on the Internet. (Remember when we called it the “Web” or the Information Super Highway?)

I check the online weather radar on the days when we have storms moving though and try to skirt home between the downpours. It worked great today.

on-the-internet-nobody-knows-youre-a-dog-memeCan’t remember some name or factoid? Google what you know and you’re an instant genius.

TED talks. A bunch of them are full of crap, but I learn constantly by streaming them at my desk as I do data entry.

Today I heard about a WWII story that I had never heard before. Looked it up, found out some details, learned of a detailed book of the event, and pondered the thought of writing a future book about it. Without the internet, it would’ve been a passive story that I half-understood and most likely forgot before I had a chance to research.

I think some of the things from the past are sorely missed and I wonder how life passed in old west times. However, I’m thankful to live in this day and age where the world and all its wonders are right there on my screen.

And to think how cool I thought digital watches were when they first came out.
