50,000 or Bust

Hey Kids,

50,000 new words written.

I finished my NaNoWriMo challenge.NaNo-2015-Winner-Banner

This was a challenging one with so much going on, and then starting a new second job on top of that!

Maybe to some, the deed doesn’t seem to great.

To me, it’s something many people start out saying they’re going to do it, and then a only a small percentage actually realize it.

Day 280

Working for the Weekend

Hey Kids,

Just a quick note before I take off tonight and work my Australian Hours Job. (Sounds better than graveyard). (Or does it?)

We had the kids over for a round of Chicken Soup. It was our Thanksgiving Dinner with them. We figured that everyone has had enough Turkey at this point. It’s always good food for the soul.IMG_20151129_212128_525

I didn’t quite finish my NaNoWriMo story today but I have until tomorrow night to finish. I’m within striking distance, a simple normal day’s quota will do it.

It’s been a long weekend with the days off and the working every day of it. But it has been a good one. The extra job has relived a lot of stress. Especially once the extra check starts cashing. It’s not as materialistic as that sounded. I’ll explain later.

Day 279

Failure is Not an Option

Hey Kids,

I knew the NaNoWriMo thing would be tough to do this month with so much going on, but I decided to jump into it anyway.tumblr_mvlcokDhGQ1qc0c3bo1_500

Everything was going great, until this past week when things got a little hairy at work, I began a new second job, and Thanksgiving made its appearance.

The plan was to work ahead, in preparation for this week in particular. I didn’t.

The plan was to finish early in the month and avoid this whole week entirely. It didn’t.

The plan was to make sure there was no way I could fail at achieving 50,000 words written before November 30th. This plan is still alive.

Goodbye_QuitterI hate to fail. Especially when everything is within my possibility. I am responsible for falling behind. I will be responsible to hit the mark.

Failure is not an option.

Day 278

Fragile Existence

Hey Kids,

It was the first snow that I’ve seen on the ground this season.

It wasn’t a lot but it was sticking and building up.

First Snow on the Ground

First Snow on the Ground

But then it stopped and the weather and the temperatures were just too warm to allow the accumulation to build. Winter, however, is at the door.

I know that it might sound normal to everyone else, but I’m amazed that by the simple tilt of the earth, or changing the angle with which the sun’s rays hit our neighborhood, the same place can be 100°or it can be 0°.

I think I might ponder this more than the normal Joe because I’m out in the weather every day on the motorcycle. The same roads I travel, I either sweat like crazy or I shiver like an aspen leaf when the wind blows.

We live in such a fragile state. If we were any closer to the sun, we’d be toast. Move us just a little bit away and we’re popsicles.

Our existence as humans is so sensitive to so little elevation variation. Our planet has crushing depths we cannot attain as well as mountain heights we cannot endure.

We cannot survive without our clothes and our coats. We have no fangs for hunting. No claws for fighting. We are not the physical apex animal, nor can we effectively swim or travel on foot.

For such an average, unarmed, and weak organism; we sure have done well for ourselves.
